Videography
Within my photography practice, I try to mix in some videography as well! I create videos for aesthetics and ambiance, but also for promotional purposes.

Immersive Landscapes
The smallest details that make up everything that we can see and experience tend to get overshadowed by the grander picture, especially in landscapes. We don’t often notice the little things like rocks or moss or how quiet it gets when no one else is around.
On my latest trip, I was trying to piece together the small little snippets that made up the awe-inspiring landscape around me. Slow motion videography proved to be the best way of capturing this by allowing our eyes more time to keep up and process the smallest of details. There was one day we ended a hike in a lonely slot canyon where all we could see was the sky above us and all we could hear was the quiet echoes of our own voices. It was dark and cold but almost dreamlike. Sort of like this piece. Dark, quiet, and hyperrealistic.
Pause for a moment, trace the light with your eyes, touch the glass, consume the sound, and LOOK CLOSER. Take these seven and a half minutes to get lost in time and space.

As Light / As Air
The fast pace of daily life is consuming. We move, change, and consume too quickly which is exhausting and in and of itself destructive. Our rapid pace inhibits our ability to reflect on daily occurrences and to stop and appreciate our surroundings. Time moves too quickly simply because we cannot slow down.
While I draw a great deal of inspiration from the outdoors, the pace of everyday life often makes it difficult to engage directly with my surroundings in real time. Whether hiking, camping, or (in the case of this project) simply stopped at a pullout on the side of the road, I try to stop to consider the world around me; just sit and be a part of the greater landscape. I take time to look at all of the different aspects that make our land so great, from the way that the light shifts between the mountains to the smallest details of the patterns in the gravel of a trail.
This piece means to reflect the importance of a pause in our fast paced lives, encouraging our brains to process a visual and auditory version of the world around us slowly. Allow the work to consume you. TIME IS A PRECIOUS MATERIAL.
